The department was formed in 2011 when the two programmes in the Department of Marketing and Agribusiness Management were decoupled to enhance operational efficiency. The BSc. Agribusiness Management programme was developed to address the country’s need for competent and well informed practitioners in agro-business. The programme promotes the development of agribusinesses through human capacity building that enables students to understand and take advantage of recent technological and innovative advances in agro-business. It provides sound grounding in agronomy, animal husbandry and computer application and commerce-relatedcourses such as economics, accounting, marketing, international trade, agricultural finance, human resource management and project management.
