The maiden edition of a Jazz concert christened the Central Jazz Café came off at the Eagle Square of the Miotso campus of Central University on Friday 19th October 2018.

The historic night of Jazz music interspersed with spoken word, some comedy and painting thrilled students and staff of the university as well as other music lovers who thronged the venue of the event.

Various seasoned musicians and bands including both alumni and students of CU took their turns to dish out masterful performances to the admiration of all.

In a brief remark to officially open the night, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bill Puplampu who described himself as a Jazz enthusiast, congratulated the organisers of the event and pledged his support to see more of such concerts to be held on campus. He added that Jazz music is a genre that lifts the soul and mind of listeners to different realms and helps in providing relaxation. He was also happy to see alumni of the university who are musicians coming back to perform for their alma mater. He also announced that the 20th anniversary celebrations of Central University will be held early next year and another special edition of the Central Jazz Café could be organized.

Organized under the auspices of the Chaplaincy Directorate, the Central Jazz Café is intended to both provide much needed entertainment for both students and staff of the university as well as provide an avenue for students to exhibit their talents.

Artistes on the bill included the 12/50 band from Central University, Bright Osei and Friends, the West Coast Band,Ekow Jones, Papa Ray, JJ Obiba, Parout Mouth, KB Maestro Arts, Kyei Baffour and many others.
