CU SIGNS MOU WITH PAN AFRICAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, HEALTH AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (PANCOED SBAHS), NIGERIA10th Mar 2020
Central University on Thursday March 5th 2020 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pan African College of Education, Health And Management Sciencies (PANCOED SBAHS) Nigeria for the teaching and award of degrees to its students in the disciplines of Medical and Allied Health Sciences and Theology. For the next four years, students from PANCOED SBAHS Nigeria, can apply for degrees in BA Theology; BSc Public Health; BSc Nursing MPhil Theology and MA Religious Study at CU and upon successful completion be awarded Central University degrees. The collaboration which will entail exchange of students and faculty of both institutions is expected to give CU the opportunity to spread its footprints into Nigeria whiles offering the students a unique opportunity to benefit from the fine blend of excellent academic training fused with Faith and Integrity. The PANCOED School of Bio-Medical and Allied Health Science is an accredited Tertiary Educational Institute approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Education and by Ministry of Tertiary Education in Nigeria to provide Professional and Academic Training to Africans and other citizens in Nigeria.
In his welcome address before the signing of the MoU, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bill Buenar Puplampu welcomed his counterparts from Nigeria and informed them that the Chancellor of the University, Rev. Dr. Mensa Otabil has eargerly been looking forward to Central University exporting its vision as well as education and programmes outside the shores of Ghana and so this presents a unique opportunity for both CU and PANCOED SBAHS to benefit from the uniqueness and strengths of both institutions. He added that it is the aim of CU to not only teach our students but reach out to their souls with the Gospel of Christ with the hope that they will transformed in addition to being educated. He promised that the University will deligently fulfil its part of the agreement and called on PANCOED SBAHS to do likewise for the fruitful realisation of the goals of the collaboration.He acknowledged that Ghana and Nigeria already had a rich history of fruitful collaborations and interactions in the education industry over the years. He was hopeful that this collaboration will also provide avenues for mutual research of faculties of both institutions.
On his part, the Provost of PANCOED, Dr. Olaoti Olatunji expressed his excitement and appreciation to the Management of CU for agreeing to enter into this collaboration with his College.He was very optimistic that this collaboration will yield great gains for both institutions since there are several students in Nigeria longing to have the Central Experience as well as optain degrees from CU. He was hopeful that with the implementation of the MOU, other Schools and Faculties from CU could offer programmes to students in PANCOED SBAHS. He was accompanied by a four-member delegation including the Admission Officer for International Programmes, the Registrar for International Programmes, the Head of Department for Environmental Health and Management programmes and the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.
The MOU was signed by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor John Ofosu-Anim. Also present at the short ceremony were the Registrar, Mr Emil Afenyo, the Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Duncan, HOD, Theology and Education and CODE, Rev. Dr. Kwasi Sampong, Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr Paul Krechie, In-Charge, Centre for International Relations and Programmes, Mrs. Gertrude Nelson and In-Charge, Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, Mr. Worlanyo Afenyo.
