Public health situation in Ghana 

1.Poor environmental sanitation & hygiene practices
2.Poor occupational health, safety & disaster management practices
3.High incidence and prevalence of communicable & non-communicable diseases 
4.Sale and consumption of unsafe food
5.Poor nutrition related diseases
6.Unhealthy behavioural life-styles
7.Poor psycho-social well-being & increasing mental illness
 

Intervention by CU BSc Public health Programme

1.To provide broad-based education in public health principles & practices
2.To generate evidence-based research outcomes that would influence policy decisions
3.To create opportunity for students to concentrate on public health areas with limited expertise in Ghana
4.To produce practitioners equipped to make visible positive impact on the health of populations in Ghana and beyond


Entry Requirements

Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE): with an aggregate score of  twenty-four (24) or better in six (6) subjects comprising: A – D in all three (3) core subjects  i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and at least passes i.e. (A – D)  in three (3) elective subjects in the options of Science.
West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): with an aggregate score of 36 or better in six (6) subjects comprising: A1 – C6 in all three (3) core subjects  i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and at least passes in three (3)  elective subjects in the options of Science.
Foreign Students Requirements: foreign students must have their result slips translated into English. In addition, applicants must be able to speak and write in English.
Other Entry Qualifications for Admissions: Candidates with the Diploma In Public Health Nursing from recognized institutions may apply. Such candidates may transfer credits  from their previous course of studies, with appropriate recommendations and references. Candidates with the Diploma in Environmental Health and Disease Control may also apply.     

All applicants to the School of Medicine and Health Sciences will be interviewed.
